The No Food Rules Podcast

Nov 9, 2021

You know what I always say about scales – get rid of them! Smash them if you have to! Don't let them control you and your life! Fellow member of The SociEATy Alexis Hannah is here today to add insight to that, sharing a recent story about how a number on a scale made her feel awful about herself and almost ruined something that was supposed to have been fun.

Alexis was in gymnastics when she was a kid and was around twelve or thirteen when she started to really care about calories, an obsession that led to binging and purging and using food to try to feign a sense of control over her life. She eventually, however, realized that something needed to change and ended up finding intuitive eating. She is here today to discuss not only the scale but also how disordered eating is a spectrum and how everyone deserves a healthy relationship with food regardless of where on the spectrum they fall. She also asserts that intuitive eating involves reflection (and gives tips on how to do that such as journaling), discusses what her two biggest hurdles were when it came to finding intuitive eating, enthuses over how having a sense of community within The SociEATy has made all the difference for her, and so much more!

Thank you so much to Alexis for being such a light of inspiration and encouragement to everyone and for joining me in this episode of the podcast!
